Questions, answered

The things people tend to ask before they come.

If your question isn't here, write to us. We read everything and reply personally.

Before you arrive

Booking, logistics, and what to bring.

What's included in the price?

Everything you'll need for the weekend. Accommodation in a private estate, all meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, every workshop and ritual on the schedule, the drinks station throughout, and your take-home gifts on Sunday. The only optional extra is the in-room massage. Travel to and from the venue is your own.

What should I bring?

Comfortable layers, something to journal in if you have a favourite, swimwear for the pool and spa, and an open mind. We provide robes, towels, blankets, journals, and everything you'll need for each session. A full pre-arrival pack with the specifics goes out once your booking is confirmed.

Can I come on my own?

Yes, and many people do. Solo guests have a single-occupancy rate and a private room. The structure of the weekend means you'll meet the rest of the group quickly — over Friday dinner, in the cacao circle — without ever having to perform sociability. Coming alone is a brave, beautiful choice. We hold it well.

Can I come with a partner or a friend?

Yes. Rooms are double occupancy and priced for pairs. Bring whoever you want to do this with — partner, friend, sibling, parent. The weekend will meet the two of you differently than it meets the room as a whole, and that's part of its work.

What's the difference between the rooms?

Standard rooms are comfortable, well-appointed bedrooms with shared bathrooms nearby. Premium rooms are en suite. The Master Suite is the largest room on the estate and goes on a first-come basis. All rooms are double occupancy, with a solo rate if you'd rather have it to yourself. Specifics vary by venue and are listed on each retreat page.

What's the cancellation policy?

Bookings are binding once paid. We don't offer refunds, transfers or partial credits. We hold this line because every place is held for you — food ordered, practitioners booked, rooms taken off the market — from the moment you reserve. Please be sure of your dates before you book. Full terms are on the booking page.

What happens if I get ill before the retreat?

We're sorry — and the policy still holds. Bookings are binding, including in the case of illness. We strongly recommend taking out travel insurance with cancellation cover when you book. If something serious happens, contact us — we can't refund, but we'll always treat the situation with care.

The weekend

How it actually feels, hour to hour.

Tell me about the food.

Seasonal, generous, family-style. Dairy free, gluten free and nut free across every meal — no exceptions, no opt-ins. Vegan options are always available. If you have other allergens or specific needs, let us know at the time of booking and we'll cater for them. Nobody leaves hungry.

Is there alcohol?

No. Kamala weekends are alcohol free, start to finish. The drinks station runs throughout the weekend with matcha, lions mane coffee, pressed juices, turmeric lattes, herbal teas, antioxidant shots and coconut water. Most people don't notice the absence by Saturday lunch.

What kind of fitness or mobility do I need?

Not much. The somatic and breathwork sessions are done lying down or seated, with options at every stage. Yoga on Sunday is restorative. The grounds invite walking but don't require it. If you have a specific mobility need or injury, tell us at booking and we'll talk through how the weekend will sit for you.

I'm neurodivergent or sensitive to sensory input. Will the weekend work for me?

Often, yes — and we want to know in advance so we can hold it well. The schedule includes loud sessions (gongs, breathwork) and quiet ones (journaling, floating, free time). There's always somewhere to step out to. Tell us what helps and what doesn't at the time of booking, and we'll talk it through with you.

What's the policy on phones?

We don't confiscate them. We do invite you to put them away. There's no formal digital detox, no signal blocker, no shame if you check in with home — but the weekend works best when the phone stays in the room. Most people find the absence is the relief.

Access & after

Practical questions, beyond the basics.

What's the minimum age?

Kamala is for adults. Eighteen and over. The work we do isn't suitable for younger guests, and the group dynamic is built around that.

Is the venue accessible?

Honestly, it depends on the venue. Each retreat is held in a private estate, and accessibility varies between them. TBC Accessibility detail per venue is to be confirmed for the October retreat and listed on the retreat page. If you have specific access needs, please email us before booking and we'll tell you exactly what the venue offers.
